I've been a writer since at least six years old, when I wrote the story "The Friendly Shark" in my first grade notebook. I spent my childhood reading and writing, and eventually ended up at Brigham Young University for my bachelor's degree in English: Creative Writing.
Though I love short form work like short stories and essays, my primary emphasis is on novels. I specialize (can I say that this early in my career?) in horror, and the novels I write tend to be either horror or horror-adjacent. My love for the genre began in college when none of my writing felt good enough to submit to my workshop group. Once I randomly decided, "I'm just going to write something creepy and see how much I can scare them," suddenly the words came easily. Horror is a place where I can have fun, explore the darker parts of the world, and hopefully make my readers scared to turn the lights off.
As of now, I'm deep in the query trenches and pool of rejections. But from what I understand, that's a normal stepping stone to a great career. Wish me luck!
